Bio

M Knudsen is an American multimedia visual artist, designer, curator and photographer creating out of California. Knudsen first became recognized globally for his efforts as fashion designer, photographer and creative director for American Gypsy Apparel from 2012-2015, landing his creations in NYFW in 2014.

After a brief campaign for street art throughout California focused on positive messages. Slogans like “you are great,” and “never give up” became popular locally and ignited the rise of JM Knudsen. Knudsen’s advancements to worldwide recognition came swiftly after an array of art showcases from 2014 - 2015 in Sacramento, which eventually led to a solo gallery art show in San Francisco in 2016.

A few successful showcases in SF led to Knudsen being given the commission to paint the Jimi Hendrix Red House live on Haight and Ashbury in 2017 for the 50 Year Anniversary of Summer of Love and the 40 year anniversary of the Haight street fair . Following the success of that mural, a month later he was then invited to showcase his paintings in The Wagner Gallery in Ericiera Portugal, which ultimately catapulted Knudsen to the worldwide stage after creating a mural in Portugal and Paris on the same trip.

Since then, Knudsen, has held dozens of art showcases locally and abroad and has created more than 80 large scale public murals, including 25 in Europe and 1 In New York City. Has been a curator for local artists in Sacramento at the trade gallery since 2017. He continues to create physical and digital design in all realms of society, and avidly creates new projects domestic and abroad.

Recent Activity:

In addition to actively creating public murals, On 11/11/21 Knudsen showcased his “Signals” showcase in Paris, marking his first showcase of paintings in a gallery in France. On the same trip, Knudsen Created the “Fuck War” mural at Spot 13 street art gallery in Central Paris.

His work was featured in Anima Mundi International Art Fair in Venice, Italy spring 2022 alongside New York filmmaker and collaborator Sofia Montzerrrat on their project “generations” that was created in October 2021.

He completed the 60 foot Tribute mural at Tres Hermanas Restaurant for Lorena Ramírez in Sacramento in 12/21 in which she signed in person after running the California International Marathon in Sacramento on 12/05

In September 2021, he founded the You Are Great Foundation in Sacramento, California that is focused on promoting self worth in all people.

Johnny-Michel Knudsen also known as JM Knudsen is an American visual artist, designer, photographer and art curator from New York City. Currently living and creating out of California, USA. KNudsen is a multifaceted artist in the mediums of 2D Paintings, drawings, DIGITAL DEsIGN, large scale Public murals and street art. He also creates in the 3D area with scuplture, Designed objects and public art installations. Knudsen is active in fashion Design and photography as Creative Director of AMerican Gypsy XX.

KNUDSEN IS AN INternational Artist who has NOt only held solo art exhibitions in Europe, but also has created works of art in the form of large scale murals in LONDON, UK, Paris, France, Barcelona, SPAIN and Ericiera, POrtugal.
